About Me
Hi, my name is Reed and I am a maker. I have always been interested in how things work, taking things apart and building, since I was a toddler. This curiousity led me to obtain a B.S/Meng in mechanical engineering from RIT. While my schooling focused in mechanics, I am also interested in electronics and the programming or “logic” of how things work. After working for a few years as a mechanical engineer I decided to return to school for my PhD in robotics and controls to delve deeper into controls.
My dream job would be to be working with robots as they meld all of my interests areas into one comprehensive unit. I especially enjoy the research and development work that includes everything from brainstorming up until finished prototype.
Outside of work I am a swimmer. I have swam competitively for 13 years; was swim team captain for 5 years between middle school and high school. More recently, in college, I helped found RIT’s swim club and served as its president.
Besides swimming I am an avid outdoorsman with interests in: backpacking, hiking, skiing, climbing, kayaking, running, and biking. To relax I enjoy reading, swing dancing, cooking, and gardening.
